The Pflugerville Association for Morbid Obesity
Support (PFAMOS) began in the early part of 2001 thanks to the
efforts of Scott Saunders. With no weight loss surgeons in the
Austin area, there was also no support group in North Austin.
Scott began an email campaign to members of AMOS located in his area
and so began PFAMOS. With just a handful of members, PFAMOS
has grown to 100+ members strong.
PFAMOS is a non-profit organization that meets twice
a month to:

support and information to those considering gastric bypass, to
those people who have had the surgery and to their families.

Guide
new members through the pitfalls of insurance, appeals, family
acceptance and those crucial first steps post op.

Help
other people to accept us as human beings regardless of our body
size.

Share
ideas on how to make our lives more comfortable.

Appoint
angels to nurture our members through surgery.

Exchange
food tolerances and recipe ideas for use while on a gastric
bypass diet.

Discuss
exercise goals to help get rid of the excess.

Help
each other cope with the new experience of eating very small
quantities of food.

Develop
a new self image and life style.

Provide
a clothing exchange.

Simply
give each other emotional uplifting through fellowship

Share
a network of gastric bypass surgeons, supportive local doctors,
and plastic surgeons

Give
love, hope and inspiration to one another at all times..........
