In general you'll take a lot of things to the
hospital and never use them. Don't bother buying nice pajamas, you
probably won't wear them. The hospital gowns are easier to
maneuver your IV through and if you spill things on them or things leak
on them you won't have to worry about it. Here are some things you
might consider taking:
Essentials
-
Chapstick - your lips get very dry
-
Hairbrush, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Lotion
-
Loose fitting clothes to wear home
(can be the same thing you wear to the hospital)
-
A roomy bath robe
Nice to have
-
Slip on slippers (so you won't need to bend over)
-
Small fan (especially if you're hot natured)
-
Maxipads - for women obviously
(some women start their period after
surgery)
-
Baby wipes
-
Tongs (to help reach with wipes places you might not be able to reach)
-
Antibacterial hand gel
-
CD player for relaxation and to block out noise
-
Magazines or books
-
Pillow - to hold against your tummy on the ride home.
A lot of folks prefer buckwheat pillows for this.
